Home to renowned UK surfboard shaper, Luke Hart, a visit to the studio will provide you with the opportunity to test demo boards, chat custom surfboard design with your shaper & browse the in store range of surfboard models, accessories and clothing. 

Seabase

With bases in the UK and EU Seabase are the leading suppliers of marine and surfboard manufacturing materials including resins and fibreglass. Seabase are also responsible for crafting a whole host of surf craft such as; paddleboards, rescue boards and surfboards (Unit 10 Seabase Units).

Celtic & Co.

With a focus on ethical and sustainable practices Celtic & Co are creators and retailers of premium sheepskin footwear and clothing. There retail outlet has moved to the Indian Queens Industrial estate, however their manufacturing premises remain on HØNEFOSS (Unit B, HØNEFOSS). 

The Cornish Lunchbox

Owned and run by Mike and Steph this glorious little find will have your mouth watering. Serving up an array of stunning dishes including salad boxes, rice bowls, cakes and amazing coffee this independent food stop is absolutely the place to go to fill your tums whilst you are here.

Jungle Jacks

Little ones got energy to burn? Do not worry! Just around the corner from us you will find Jungle Jacks; a great soft play area serving really tasty and affordable food and drinks. As all Mum's know finding a soft play area that the kids love, and that serves decent coffee is no easy task but Jungle Jacks have pulled it off. Sit back and relax with a brew the kids play. Find them at Units 13 & 14, HØNEFOSS.

Without further ado, and in no particular order, let us introduce our fave Cornish locations and activities: 

• Fistral Beach (Newquay) - It's our worst kept secret, but you have to visit it don't you!? The surfing capital of the UK is a must do for Cornish visitors in the Summer months. North Fistral, South Fistral and Little Fistral make up this spectacular location. North Fistral is a hot favourite with surf enthusiasts, boasting some of the best waves seen in the UK. Home to many a surf competition you can often find events taking place here including the epic Boardmasters surf competition and  shopping village. If you're need of some food on the North end of Fistral you will find The Fish House, Rick Steins and The Stable. Down on the South end of Fistral you will find the cute and cosy Seaspray Cafe serving up delicious hot chocolates and lunches with a glorious view. Little Fistral has no places to eat but this secluded and secret little bay is great for a lowkey picnic or BBQ.
• Porth Beach (Newquay) - Porth beach is a family favourite. Blessed with super soft sand, rockpools, small swells and safe swimming areas this beach is great for toddlers wanting to explore in safety. You'll find the amazing Hole in the Wall along the back wall of the beach serving super yummy well timed coffees and ice creams. This locally owned little slice of heaven is our go to as they have a wonderfully inclusive menu including vegan and nut free options. For a more substantial fill of the belly be sure to check out Gwenna Tearooms, Mermaid Pub & Cafe Coast which are also dotted around the outside of the beach. If you're on the hunt for a little bit of retail therapy then the amazing Roo's Beach is on the far side of the beach and features lots of glorious goodies including clothing and jewellery. 
• Cornwall's Giant Slip Slide - recently relocated the new giant slip and slide provides a quick hour of belly laughs that is well worth the price tag. We would recommend visiting on a slightly cooler day, and ensuring you are wearing clothing items that cover your arms (Rash vests or wetsuits are perfect).
• DairyLand - Farm based fun for the whole family. Food and indoor play areas, animals and education centres. 
• Lappa Valley - As a family a day out to Lappa Valley is one of our absolute favourite things to do! Recently refurbished and with the addition of a new indoor soft play area this fun little theme park ticks all the boxes for kids of all ages. It's a nice relaxed day out that's might good for your soul. The owners take great pride in ensuring their guests have a wonderful day out so be sure to say hello to them when you see them wondering around the site.
• Concrete Waves - Widely renowned as the UKs best skatepark Concrete Waves is a great place to head to, whether you bought your wheels with you or not. Grab a coffee at Choccy's cafe and watch the immense amount of talent that is on display daily on the ramps. Right next to Concrete waves you will also find the local swimming pool, gym and trampoline park. 
• St Nectan's Glen - St Nectan's Glen is a sight like no other. Embark on a beautiful woodland walk before arriving at the a stunning waterfall where you can whip off your shoes and socks and go for a nice refreshing paddle. The St Nectan's Glen café also serves up some delicious treats and coffees. 
• iwalks Cornwall - Not a place, but an app! This amazing app provides the routes to some absolutely incredible walks around Cornwall. Taking in to account all of our wonderful landmarks and heritage. We cannot recommend this app enough. It is a great place to start when planning a day out and the kids are absolutely onboard with the route planning and navigation. You will absolutely not regret inserting this gem into your holiday shenanigans!

How are we midway through January already? 2022?! What on earth has happened in the last two years. For me it seems like time has stood still and yet whizzed by in the blink of an eye all at the same time. Two years have morphed into one and it is hard to make any kind of distinction between them. Except one; which seems to be echoing it's way through the small business world right now.

2020 was an unprecedented year for online small businesses. Folks were stuck at home with not much else to do but browse the virtual world discovering new and exciting brands. Small shops saw a huge increase in sales and engagement  across their social media and the community rejoiced as we hoped the trend would stay and the support for independent retailers and creators would continue to rise. It seems it was not to be. In stark contrast to 2020 many small shops are seeing their worst year to date in 2021/2022. Sales are down, traffic is down, and amidst some gnarly changes to Facebook and Instagram social media engagement has got up and left the building leaving a trail of cobwebs blowing in the breeze. Many are hustling to adapt to the change in shopping trends, some are hanging up their creative caps for good, and some are clinging on in a storm hoping for the clouds to clear on the horizon. 

As news broke in the community today of another established small shop closing down a sense of deflation led to aimless meandering, casually browsing our favourite stores and social accounts. Many of these businesses are run by some of the most talented, creative and motivated people I know. The passion they possess is tangible in their products, marketing and branding and they deserve success. My goodness how they deserve success. 

Off the back of my cyber stroll through a cobbled street of wonderful independent shops (which in mind were undoubtedly adorned with glorious window displays and handwritten signage) I curated a list of my favourite finds. Cribstar

Always an absolute joy to my eyeballs Cribstar has edgy-cute absolutely dialled. All the pieces I have had for the boys from here over the years have stood the test of time and always look banging. My excitement that E.T had made his way into their range was pretty extreme to be honest. I am a sucker for the nudes (ahem) so this kids leggings and top loungewear set is ticking all the boxes for me.

Green Shoes

We are soon to launch our very first shoe collection here at bayridgecaskandkeg but one of the comments that came up a few times during R&D was the lack of vegan shoes available for children and babies. Not only did I find vegan shoes in the form of this wonderful brand but they're handmade, sustainable and blooming divine! This gorgeous pair of Swallow T-bar shoes really called out to my soul... and then I remembered that I had boys. Sad times all round. 

Love Roo

Love Roo is one of my long term faves in the small shop world. The social feeds are on fire, the product photography is other worldly, and every single item makes me pine for another tiny human (ish). Love Roo baby bonnets and toddler accessories have always featured heavily on the Instagram kids fashion scene and it is easy to see why. The brand encapsulates childhood perfectly with a wonderful mix of timeless and quirky styling. The Little Betsy Bear Bonnet is show-stoppingly cute and my pick for this winter.

Luna & Cash

Luna & cash is a local store here in Newquay filled to the rafters with toys, accessories, decor and gifts. You can also find them online.
